7/3 - Pender SYC Outstation

Today the wind picked up a little. Did some laundry & cleaning in the boat. Visited with the caretaker, Vera, who has beautiful gardens & baskets here. She was a fountain of information regarding naturopathic medicine which has worked both for her & one of her dogs who has epilepsy. Also visited with Bob, the cat, who last year came aboard to tantalize Chardonnay.

Tonight we had leftover pizza from the Pub - thin crust with salmon, red onions & green peppers - yum! We'll head out in the morning around 7am to head for Desolation Sound & join our friends for our annual rafting experience.

7/2 - Pender Harbour SYC Outstation

Woke up this morning to bright blue sky & sun. Already 70 degrees at 9am. Rod was out washing the salt off the boat & windows by 9:00 to beat the heat later on - took quite a bit of water over the bow coming here. We went to Madiera Park by dinghy to buy groceries & wine/liqour. Fortunately the grocery store (well provisioned) lets boaters take the grocery cart down to the ramp to the marina. This year I'm being more conscientious about keeping track of what we have on the boat when we shop so we know what we used (do you think a bit anal - even numbered the bins in the floor pantry & wrote down the contents before we left???)

It got up to 77 degrees today, with a nice breeze all day long. We went to the pub for dinner with the Silhans - ate outside as usual. We found out that there are new owners this year & the menu has changed but it was still very good. Carol & Mike are heading up to Desolation tomorrow but we will stay here one more day.

6/30-7/1 Reid Harbor & Pender Harbour

Left the house at 9:00am on 6/30 & arrived at Reid on Stuart Island at 1:30. We had a beautiful run - sun & calm waters. Lots of boats out, with sails on the sailboats. Mr. Cat took a stroll around the deck as soon as we anchored. He's still getting his sea legs but he loves going outside. I think he's becoming more & more like a dog. This afternoon he & I have been doing laps around the deck to get a little exercise! Well, that cat woke us up 3 times last night with his demands - seems to me thats happened before...maybe part of his adjustment. He doesn't know how close he came to being tossed overboard (-:

7/1 - left at 7:00am with blue skies, sun & calm waters. Arrived at Bedwell Harbour at 7:40am to clear customs, waited for our designated 15 min. & no customs (yeh!). Great crossing on the Georgia Straits - 1-2 foot chop the whole way. Arrived at the Seattle Yacht Club outstation at 4:30 so it was a long day. Its really warm - 88 degrees outside, 81 inside! Mosquito/sun screens are on.
