Aug. 21st - Ganges Marina

We left at 8:30 this morning with blue skies & 61'. Once we got to the Straits of Georgia, we hobby-horsed the whole way across (3 hrs.). Winds got up to 15 knots which normally would be fine. Neither Chardonnay nor I enjoyed the ride although I didn't need my wrist bands for this trip. Mr. Cat had trouble getting comfortable although he was making several trips up & down the stairs to his food & litter box. Turned out he threw up down there which Rod noticed. But...I had no interest in cleaning it up until the hobby-horsing stopped! Eventually he made it down to our stateroom & spent the rest of that stretch in his condo/kennel. When he resurfaced & tried heading to his food, I had Rod block him & I went down to clean it up so he didn't step in it & get it all over the floor & himself. The things we do for our animals!
As soon as we got through the straits & a set of rapids, we thought the wind would die down, but instead it picked up to 20 knots & water was crashing over the whole bow of the boat. The only good thing (has to be a good thing, right?) was that we weren't hobby-horsing anymore. It was about a 2 hour trip to Ganges from that point. We arrived at 4:20 pm.
Once we settled in, Rod washed the boat off so the salt didn't dry on it. Tomorrow he'll do the windows. I connected with our friend Jan Harper (who was in the Broughtons with us). She's here with her sister (they drove here) - we're going over to the apartment they're renting for dinner tomorrow, They've been here since Tuesday & are exploring all of the artist studios & food places on the island. They've been buying an assortment of cheeses, fish, etc so it will be a fun tasting!
Tonight a moma swan & 4 babies came around & we fed them some bread & Rod took pictures. There's been a family like that here almost every year since we've benn coming. Dinner was leftovers. Since we had a long ride getting here, neither of us felt like going out to eat.
