This morning we left Pierre's at 11:45 & most of the boats had cleared out by then & a new batch started arriving. It was sunny & 60' when we left. We headed to Viner Sound to see if we wanted to anchor there. We arrived at 12:45 & there was a mooring buoy left (there are only 3 in here, 2 where we are & 1 other). This is supposed to be a great place to see bears so we'll be on the look out. It's also a beautiful location.
It has been warm all afternoon - altho only in the low 70's, the flybridge has been perfect for getting sun & reading. Since we've been in the Broughtons we've seen lots of salmon jumping out of the water. It's even happening where we're anchored. And we saw that when we were out with Nikki too. Up here they've been catching record numbers of salmon, just like around Desolation. No one is really sure why it's so much better this year compared to the last few.
Rod set up his tripod & he's working on doing panoramic photos - maybe some will show up on the blog. He's been watching a video that tells you how to do it.
Tomorrow we'll head out in the dinghy to explore the area. We've already decided to stay here at least one more day, maybe 2. We'll go back to Pierre's on the 6th to get ready for our friend, Jan, who is flying in on the 7th. We'll do some laundry & get things ready for her arrival. Right now we are using the forward stateroom as an additional pantry/storage area so things are a little more accessible. A lot of the things on the bed will move to the "cat room" (which also serves as the grandchildren's bedroom when they're on the boat!) It's nice to have the flexibility to move things around depending on whether or not there are guests on the boat.
