July 15th - Cortez SYC Outstation

This morning it was 68 at 7:00, a little cooler than yesterday. Jon was off fishing early with some friends in Laura Cove - they caught 3 salmon & came over with their wives to help Jon fillet the salmon. Harv moved his boat off our side around 6:30 to his boat to load up for their trip to Powell River. Last night Maggie brought over some frozen halibut for us to take with us. I'm leaving some of my banana bread with Jon in trade for more smoked salmon (yeh!)

We took off at 12:30 for Cortez, pulled up the kayak & dinghy & were on our way, arriving at 2:30. It was nice to be underway & feel the breeze blowing through the boat. It's warm at Cortez too - high of 86 but at least a breeze.
There's a woman who comes by the outstations for both SYC & Royal Vancouver Yacht Club every evening selling baked goods & jams. I ordered her focacia bread, scones, brownies & oatmeal cookies with white chocolate & craisins for tomorrow delivery. We've been good about snacking & desserts for the most part so far so this will be our departure from that! We're headed to meet the Silhans day after tomorrow so will share with them. The wind really picked up tonight. We were glad to be at a dock. Dinner tonight was barbequed chicken & salad - back to our own devices for dinners!
